Message: jevanof, you have nothing to loose by trying this
first before buying a new one. Try running a tap
the same size (more than likely metric) into that
hole first. If that does not work, drill and tap
to next size larger bolt.
Let us know what you end up doing.
Good luck!

Message: I would try a Heli-Coil insert first. Find out what thread the caliper pin is, (probably metric as noted) and you should be able to get a Heli-Coil kit from a decent auto parts store. Basically, the stripped hole is drilled oversize and tapped with a special tap (provided in kit) Then a coiled insert is threaded into the hole, recreating the original threads. It works great if done properly, and the repair is usually stronger than the original threaded hole. If you are a little worried about trying it, you might remove the spindle and have a local machine shop do it, and maybe do both holes. Shouldn't take more than 1 hr for a shop to do it.
Good luck.

Message: Okay, a few things ...beginning with a disclaimer!
1) I'm not a professional wrench, the last time I removed a spindle was 20 years ago, from a '71 Monte Carlo.
2) The 4x4 is a less dangerous procedure than the 4x2, namely because you have no coil spring! You *should* back off the torsion bar tension completely, for safety's sake.
3) There is much added complexity, because of the front axle half shafts, CV joints etc.
I can't give you a procedure since I've never done it. I certainly wouldn't hesitate to tackle the job if it were my truck, but that's me. If I were to do it, I'd buy a Hayne's or Chilton's or go to the library and photocopy the factory manual. If I were you, I might consider asking a good mechanic if he would be willing to make a housecall. He may also be willing to HeliCoil the hole without removing the spindle, it's certainly do-able with a steady hand. Those are my reccommendations, I'm sure there are people here who have R&R'd a 4x4 spindle, maybe they can chime in with suggestions or procedure.
BTW, it's actually the steering knuckle that you need to remove, the spindle is a separate piece bolted to the knuckle on your 4x4, and it's actually a *hub* not a spindle.
Good luck ;^)

Message: During a brake job I noticed I had one a few threads in crooked. It straightned out easily with a tap. Definetly worth a try. I've probably gone over 50,000 miles since then, no problems.
