I'm looking for advise regarding my overhead console on a 03 rc R/T. Is there some type of sending unit that displays mileage and temperature information that can fail but still show compass direction at least indicating to me that the console gets power? The MPG and Temp info
is now displayed as --.

The overhead console get all its info from the PCM... the compass is not connected to the PCM ... id say take it back to the dealer.. if it is a PCM problem its covered under the emissions warenty(sp?)
