I had the same problem in my 93 5.2 but it never happened until I did the first majore burnout and spun the tires until I let off. The gauge wouldnt sit still but eventually fixed itself.

Ive had this problem for awhile now most people believe its a sending unit. They have the tendency to wear out on our trucks. I havent done anything about it because the price of a new sending unit is around $400.I believe there is a way to test the gauge with a test light by taking the wiring off the top of the tank and touching each point to see if the gauge registers at full half and empty but im not sure on that so dont quote me:). Anyway Ive been watching my odometer and listening to the truck to tell me when it wants some gas and havent had problems yet. If you find out what it is though post Im kind of interested.

I had this same exact problem with my wifes 93 club cab 5.2 4x4. Fixed it when the fuel pump finally went out and I replaced it and the fuel level sensor.

my 98 RC 5.2 auto would do it.. and the light would come on, the overhead console would read some weird stuff. Had the dealer replace the sending unit.. still did it. Sometimes it would even start spuddering and die!!!

Took it back again, they replaced the puter (tried to pay the diff for the mopar unit, they wouldn't do it ={ ) Took it home, did it again, PLUS my ABS lights came on and stayed.

Took it back the third time and left it running and made them put the scanner on it while it was doing it's crazy stuff. They got all kinds of errors then. Turned out I had a bad o2 sensor and a loose ground on my puter.

well, it all works fine now. No problems since. The ONLY problem I have had with my Dak in 49k miles
