Well let me tell you a story here.
My 96 Dakota 318 V8 mated to a 44RE transmisson. Now when I bought the truck it already had over 98K miles on the odometer. About 15k miles latter my transmisson started shifting backwards. So it started in 3rd and worked its way down to 1st then back up up again. Turns out they quy they owned the truck never flused out the tranny nor changed the transmisson filter and gasket.
So I know you fell on that part.
You also said you bought a hyperchip. I'm going to order one for my GMC SLT. How much of performance did you notice out of the chip?

How is everyone doing first time in here! I like what I hear so far in here. I just traded my 02' that had the 3.7 for the 2005 SLT 4.7 (6 speed manual) it's alot of fun. My 02's Tranny also sucked. I t would either shift at a very low RPM like out of 1st to 2nd @ 1500 RPM's then I would have to stand on the gas to get it to shift back down. Or sometimes it didn't want to shift at all or at a very high RPM like 4500 RPM's then I would actually have to let off the gas for it to shift! But the whole reason for me chattin in here is I have a question about the 05'. I want to get an after market trailer hitch and I would like to know if anyone has any idea if 04 model will fit the 05'? And no I don't want one of those universal ones I had one on the 02' and I never liked the way it looked. It hung down to low and I would like this one to look more factory or flush.

well what ever the V-6 was 3.9,3.7,2.28 lol doesn't matter point being the trans sucked

the daks never had a 3.7
i think the only engines they came fromt he factory with were 2.4, 3.7, 3.9, 4.7, 5.2, and 5.9
now that doesnt mean people havent put in 383s 340s 400s 440s 426s ive even seen a 514 CI mopar crate engine in an 89 dakota that he made into a mud bogger, im talkin like 1/8 mud pit in like 6 seconds
he didnt even really dig in, jsut skipped over the top

my 2004 has the 3.7 2004 was the first year it was offered, it is also now on the 05's. the 3.9 is gone
