Subject: HELP!!! Door Trim Panel Painting IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2003 Dakota with Manual Locks. I am trying to paint the plastic trim around the interior door handels. But the only problem is that one of the sides is melted together to the rest of the door panel. Please help what should I do because I really need to get the interior door handle trim off. Here are some pics. Also if you painted your interior trim panel please post some pics and tell me how you did that. Here are some pics of the plastic melted. There are pictures on the 4th page of my site. Please Help!!!! www.cardomain.com/id/surfinstud . Thanks in advance.

Message: try summit racing.com they sell interior panel dye for just what you are doing,in fact it is in their current sale catalog. the parts are not melted together but are plastic welded, the difference is melted indicates accidental and welded is on purpose. try carefully cutting away with an exacto knife as you will have to weld it back together to get it to stay together when you are done, for that I would go to radio shack and buy the cheapest soldering iron they carry and just throw it away when finished as it will be too gummed up with plastic to use for real soldering.
