Subject: Wrong Engine HELP?!?! IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2000 Dakota R/T. I blew the engine at 80,000 miles and traded asphalt work to a used car lot owner, through a friend, for a motor swap. he had a jeep cheroke on the lot that was rolled he was using for parts. after he completed the work I thought the truck ran rough and slow. So i got under it and pulled numbers of the block (53006714-318-28). The 318 was bigger which led me to beleive it was infact a 318. the local dodge store confermed it was but couldnt trace it to a vehicle. How do I find out where the engine came from or how to trace it so I can prove to him I know and hopefully get it taken care of. generaljenkins@alltel.net

Message: You could use carfax.com.. That might could help.
But really.. was you looking for another 360?
If you going to get one out of the Jeep.. Make sure its say's 5.9L limit before you go yanking out a motor.

Message: butler-A1.com gave me the info i needed. It was a 92-97 casting motor so now I can pursue this further. BUT hey whats wrong with the 360??? What would you recomend I put in it.I thought my 360 was pretty stought, although finding performance upgrades is a little hard, especially trying to get another cam for it. thanx again though the guys at www.allpar.com were a big help to you should check them out to if you havent allready.

Message: Which flexplate/torque converter combo was used? Some of the roughness you're experiencing could be due to having your 360 flexplate/converter on the 318 from the Jeep. This will cause an imbalance since the 360 is externally balanced, and the 318 isn't.
