 Subject: Rear end going out?

My truck is an 01 dakota with a 4.7l 45rfe and a 3.55 lsd rear end. It has about 76000 miles on it, and the other day my rear end started making a sound similar to that of a jackhammer, but not nearly that loud or violent sounding. It only happens over 25mph and when I am pressing the gas pedal. It stops making noise when I let off the gas completely, and it gets faster with speed. It also makes the noise when I'm coming to a stop, all the way to about 5mph. Does anyone know what the problem is, Is my rear end going out?
