Subject: shifting problems IP: Logged
Message: I have a 99 Dakota V-8 auto. The problem is that it wont shift out of first till i hit about 3000 rpm, and what it does it is kinda jerky, And a couple times it wouldnt shif out of first at all no matter what rpm.. the trans fluid is fine and i cant find anything else wrong..

Message: I had an old Bronco auto that had a similar problem. It wouldn't shift out of first until about 35 mph. That's where it normally shifted under hard acceleration. It ended up being a vacuum modulator. I don't know that it would be the same, since it was a 79 with a 4 barrel carb. Just a possibility.
