Subject: got gears? IP: Logged
Message: How do I determine which gears I have? I Did a search and seems the 2 most popular answers are to look at the door or inside the glove box. I've got nothing there.
It's a 95 CC 4x4 and I'm looking at doing a 3" lift on it. I won't be doing extreme off-roading, but want something a little more capable than what the factory used. I do alot of fishing and camping and have scraped more than once.

Message: I think you can go to the dealer with your vin and they can tell you what gears you have on your truck. Someone correct me if i'm wrong.

Message: What will get you in the ball park is to jack up the truck so you can spin the wheels. Then put it in nuetural so you can spin the wheels. Mark a referance point on the tire and also on the driveshaft. As you turn the tire one revolution count how many times the driveshaft rotates. If it turns 3 and a half its the 3.55s. If it turns almost 4 times 3.9.
This is just a close estimate, but if you have a list of the stock gears you can figure it out.
Hope this helps

Message: I have a 95 SLT CC 4x4 3.9L Auto. I have the 3.55's. In winter/spring I'm looking at installing a lift , new bumpers, winch and changing gears as well. I've decided on the bumpers and lift. Looking for rims/tires and gears.
It's determined by the last 8 digits of the vin. The first digits signify the make, model, assembly plant, year, etc. Call dealer and speak to someone in service department, give them last 8 digits and they'll tell you.
