Subject: 2001 Dak Fuel Tank IP: Logged
Message: I was told that the 2001 Dak 2.5L regular cab has a 22 gallon fuel tank. When I go to fill my tank when the guage is on Empty I only have to put 16 gallons in to fill it up. Is my guage bad or does the needle on the guage go below the red line?
Thanks,
Alan

Message: No you probably have one of those 'test trucks, with the 26 gallon tank.
What do you think? My QC has a 24gallon, but when the pump light comes on, it only takes about 18 to fill it.
Incidentally, The DTE(distance to empty) feature of the computer, has been on zero more than once, and I still had about a gallon and a half left!

Message: The fuelpump is in the tank and is cooled by the fuel. This requires a few gallons remain in the tank so the pump doesn't overheat and burn out.
My '01 QuadCab has a 24 gallon tank and I've never been able to put more then 22 gallons in it even when my gauge says empty and computer DTE reads 0.

Message: my 01 3.9 slt 4x4 dak has a 22 gal tank. if i fill up when the fuel light comes on its about 16-17 gallons. once i got it to empty then drove it about 50 miles and filled it with 20 gallons. just fill your tank atleast when the light comes on, better to do when half full, your fuel pump is in the gas tank and is cooled by the gas, it will last you longer if you keep it cooler. it may also be quieter if tank is fuller.
