I am interested in pray paint some of the plastic pieces in my dakota. I was wondering what would be the best type of spray paint to use. Articals of people doing their interior say that they use Automotive spray paint but I was wondering if using Krylon's Fusion spray paint would be better. This is what I got off the Krylon's website:

Discover this revolutionary paint for plastic - Fusion. This top-selling paint is the first of its kind that bonds directly to most plastics. Turn a treasured toy into something new again. Get many more years of enjoyment out of your outdoor patio furniture. And don't waste that waste paper basket - simply give it a new coat of paint.

No sanding, no priming, no fuss
Dries in 15 minutes or less
Features the EZ Touch Fan™ Spray Nozzle

Or should I just stick with Dupont's auto spray paint?

I've had much better luck with interior dye. You can get it in a spray can and it's more flexible so it doesn't crack when the plastic flexes.

I'll get a brand name off a can tonight. I used it a lot on the Cudas and Challengers and it looked awesome and held up very well. Armor All makes it shine just like a new piece.

Not to mention that spray paint scrathes off really easy. It looks ok but every time you nick it you will scratch paint off. the dye is the way to go.

I don't have any old cans around. I found it on this sites:
http://secure.50resto.com/product1.cfm?SID=1&Product_ID=142

Year One also has it but it's way high 'cause it's resto stuff. I would suggest calling your local auto paint store or body shop and ask them where you can get vinyl dye. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Terry ur stupid "armor all is pure silicone" if so the 16oz bottles would cost 20.00 -30.00 dollars. armour all is silicone based. soak the panels several times with purple power or cleaner of such type. DO NOT SAND. that would ruin the panels. i do upholstery, full time and either dye or the plastic paint will do fine. just rub the the panels with scoth brite while the cleaner is on, not to hard though. sand paper ruins plastic.

So wasabi I use the purple power cleaner with a scotch brite for how long? Then clean them with alcohol and let them dry. Next start spray painting them in layers and let each layer dry. After I spray paint thefirst layer lets say what do i do to get it ready for the next layer? How many layers should I do? I have never done this before cant you tell? :) I just do not want to mess up my trucks interior. Also any tips and tricks would be great. Thanks in advance.

Yeah I think G2 makes it. But Kryon's Fusion should be alright. I just need to know what I need to do to make the paint stick and have the best finish possible. But thank you.

Just clean the panels, spray the purple power on, rub gently with the scotch brite, your not trying to sand the panels with the scotch brite, you only want to remove all protectants from the pores of the panels, its really easy, let the panels dry completely, for atleast one day to make sure all the moisture is gone, apply a light coat first, let dry and repeat. I spray 3-4 light coats, letting each coat dry for at least 4 hours. you can spray em sooner but this gives me the best results.. no runs, splatter, or thick spots..good luck
