Subject: Has anyone else had this replaced IP: Logged
Message: Ok so sadly three and a half weeks ago I got into an accident with my 01 R/T, and its been in the shop ever since. I have the front bumper grill hood, and diverside fender replaced along with all new front lights.
So anyways when the auto body got the truck it was in running condition. some wheres along the line they tried to start it , i thought it might be the battery , because its been sitting for so long, they couldn't figure it out for a week. I was like WTF?
so finally i had then take it to the local dodge dealer, in the first hour of them haveing it they find the problem of why it wouldn't start.
It was the cam-crank sensor, which the dealer told me it just crapped out. and i need a new battery.which cost around $420 will install.
BUt another problem has arrived, which is my after market warrenty contract i purchased through the dealer when i bought the truck used. Its a new contract with it covering basic drivetrain and electrical. but they ddint tell be i could upgrade it so it covers gasgets and seals and advanced electrical, hi-tech parts such as THE CAM-CRANK SENSOR.
THe dealer fixed the truck yesterday but I'm haveing them wait to write it up until the warrnty info goes through and seeing if the parts will be covered ,
I can't wait until i get my truck back.
Thanks for reading all this.

this is the how to article on modifying it, but its the sensor at the back of the block on the bellhousing of the tranny. they wanted $420 to replace that?!?!

Just some info your way, I had a dead battery issue with my '01 R/T and took it do the dealer to have a look see. Come to find out there is an item called the IOD Fuze. "Ignition Off Draw".
The fuze is under the panel by the driver side door. My truck sits for a few weeks at a time between drives and the battery used to die each time I was ready to drive it. The dealer said there is constant voltage to the ignition system and it will drain the battery unless the IOD fuze is pulled. All you really needed was to charge your old battery and you should have been good to go. I know your thread said you had a no start issue but I noticed they replace your batter for quite alot of coin. Especially when an Optima battery goes for about 125 bones. Just wanted to share my experience with ya. Maybe it helps maybe it doesnt.
