Message: Unfortunatally a good friend needs to replace his 4.7 in his 2002 4x4 4.7 5spd dakota. Warrenty will not replace his engine for some reason? Water in the engine?? who would of thought. So we were looking around at some options such as rebuilding his engine but it has a couple broken rods and no sure what the block looks like, or buying a used 4.7 from a salvage yard ($1500-$2000 could be worse)Would a 4.7 from a Jeep 4.7 H.O. work in his truck???
Please let me know what you think.

Message: Be sure to get the engine wiring harness and all computer modules as well.
Same engine. Different application. Different computer settings.
Wife's Grand Cherokee and my Dakota have same engine and running gear, but the Jeep can out-accelerate the Dakota.
Maybe I should swap engine and tranny computers, eh?

Message: the jeep and Dak do NOT have same running gear - Jeep has different gearing. It is also lighter. Try swapping PCMs and see what happens !
