Subject: Fog light issues IP: Logged
Message: How do you know if your fuses under the hood are bad or not. I have a 99 dakota 5.2 and 5 speed. Both the fog lights aren't working. I assume that like on headlights if one is bad the other will work fine. Both fog lights don't work and the switch on my dash doesn't light up; like it is supposed to when I pull on it to engage the fog lights. Anyone here have a similar problem?

Message: You'll need a multimeter or a simple voltage tester to check it. Turn the switch on and apply the meter to the terminals that hook to the light. If you have voltage, the lights are bad. If not you probably have a blown fuse or bad switch. You can look at the fuse and if the "u" shaped metal inside the glass isn't broken, the fuse is good. If you have a meter you can do continuity testing on the lamps, fuse, and switch to diagnose your problem. One problem I had on mine was that one of the wires leading to the lamp was corroded. I cut out the bad wire and soldered in new.
