just bring #1 cyl up on compression stroke,
pull the dist cap thats where #1 plug wire goes on cap and wire the rest
firing order 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2
front of motor driverside 1,3,5,7
pass.side front of motor 2,4,6,8

Why wouldn't you use the official firing order, your way just leads to more confusion ? Its good to see the others have refused to use your bastardised firing order. Learn to do this right and you won't have these problems...

not the top of the distributor cap!
starting from 1 going counterclockwise the numbers are in order on the cap

if you look on the intake manifold the firing order is cast there

UM, you are a dumb fuk!
The frikkin firing order is on the manifold and it is 1,8,4,3,6,5,7,2 and the order on the dist cap is the same starting with #1 and going clockwise.

UM, WTF Please do explain how the plugs fire in the proper order when the wires are arranged on the dist cap in numericle order.????
If what you say is correct the firing order would have to be 1-8-7-6-5-4-3-2 for clockwise rotation or 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8 for counterclockwise rotation.
It is obvious you have never changed your cap and rotor, plug wires, or any internal timing componets.
As stated before you are a fuking idiot. Open a service manual or even open your hood, it will be plain as day.
