Subject: bad fuel pump? IP: Logged
Message: I ran my '97 dakota out of gas. Not my brightest moment but I wanted to get to the cheaper gas station. Anyway, now I can't get it started again (at least not without pouring gas down throttle body). I am suspecting I killed the fuel pump. I can't hear the pump start when I turn the ignition on and there is no pressure at the rail. I checked the fuses and relays. Before I drop the tank to get at the pump is there anything else I can check. Perhaps something with the ASD? Thanks in advance. Truck is '97 v6 with 15 gal tank I have about 4 years on this pump.

Message: Do your self a favor and take the bed off rather than drop the tank. It is really a lot easier.

Message: maybe there is a fuel pump shutoff circuit breaker somewhere that has to be reset like there is on some other vehicles ive seen.
