First, sorry to keep asking balljoint questions. I replaced the driver's side lower joint today. Tomorrow is the passengers side. I had a HECK of a time getting the boot on the new balljoint. in the end, it looks like it's 98%on. For some reason 1 little spot wouldnt push all the way up. Seems like it's up enough to not ooze grease. Hopefully it's ok. Anyhow, if anyone has pointers, I'd like to hear. I want to make sure I get it on right.

THE ANSWER:
Don't use channel locks, you'll destroy the boot.
I put mine on using a small piece of scrap 2x4... with a holesaw drilled a hole in the middle (can't remember what size but the boot was a snug fit inside the hole).
Put the boot inside the piece of wood from underneith, the stiff edges on the bottom of the boot will keep it from slipping.
Then, with some force, just push down over the balljoint. The wood keeps the pressure even on the lip of the boot as you're pressing it down.
Yer all done.

I just put mine on last week, and used a the end of a sockect extension(the squarish end that goes into the socket) and tapped it on with a hammer. it worked great to finish off that little bit I couln't get.
