Subject: BAER or Power Slot? IP: Logged
Message: http://s10planet.performancecenter.com/
I've read recommendations here for the Power Slot rotors, but what about the BAER DecelaRotors? I found both at the above website (pay no attention to the root website, I used to drive a 93 Jimmy) for the same price...
Anyone used the BAER's? That is a reputable brake manufacturer so perhaps these are a better way to go? I've put a little under 15 thousand miles on my truck since I bought it (02, had 22K on it) and the dealer had new pads and rotors on it...rotors are warping already. :\
Also, what pads are you guys using with drilled and/or slotted rotors? Was it Hawk ceramic pads? As long as they don't dust up my wheels after a measly week of driving I don't care.
Just looking at options, thanks!!

Message: Hawk or EBC are good. baer is a bit better company, not sure how they match on price... just keep in mind that most shops don;t take the risk to turn slotted or drilled rotors, its a pain, and can damage their equipment

Message: I ran a set of Raybestos BruteStop drilled and slotted rotors along with a set of thier SuperStop pads on my 00 CC. They were right around $200 from rockauto.com. No brake problems for 40K,,, I wrecked the truck :-(
My new 03 QC has the larger front brakes and rear disc's. WHAT a difference! The truck is turning 40K and I just started hearing the pad squeelers, no rotor vibration at all.

Message: My rig is a '00 Quadcab, 5.9 with Kenne Bell S/C and some other goodies, with now about 43,000 miles.
I installed a set of PowerSlot non-cross drilled rotors (cross drilled is not recommended for towing).
Extensive research led me to Hawkhead pads. (JusticeNet did a pad comparison on 10 different pads on Ford and Chev patrol cars and the best for which I could find pads available for the Dakota were the Hawkhead brand). Some noise when cold, but excellent performance, little to no dust.
As I recall, I went through brakwarehouse.com for the rotors and Hawkhead manufacturer for the pads. Rotors about $98 ea., pads $26/set.
2 years and lots of towing-very happy with the performance.
E-mail me for supplier addresses if you'd like,...

Message: Thanks for the info guys...
I won't be buying the brakes for a while, but I was just looking around and figured I would ask for some info from those who have done it.

Message: I have groved Powerslot as the next step up from OE. If i need some serius performance, my choice would be between Baer, EBC or Brembo, and even more important than the discs are the calipers, brake lines and pads.
A good brake setup can cost several thousand dollars

Message: Though I sell them, I don't recommend cross drilled for daily street use---
Slotted work well.
