Hey Will: it all depends on the dealer, i was quoted 800 beans because they have to take out the whole dash including the a/c evaporator and then recharge the a/c when they are finished, i just went to napa and bought a new heater core for 36 beans and then ripped out my whole dash myself, i do not have a/c now but then again i never really used it in the first place, took me 9 hours to do because i wanted to do it right, just do a search on this site and you will find info on how to do it, i believe Izzy done it and gave a detail on how he did it, i pretty much did what Izzy did as well. http://www.dodgedakota.net/boards/gen/11292.html

I am about to tackle replacing the evaporator core in my 95. It seems to be a fairly straight forward job to do. The difficulty is in the fact that you have to take the entire dash apart to get to it. There are alot of small steps and it will take alot of time to do.
I was quoted aroudn $600 from an independent shop to do.
