Subject: shut the door, the glass SHATTERED?WHAT!
IP: Logged

Message:
Ok, so I shut the door on the passenger side of my 97 cc dak with the window down almost all the way. I did not touch the window and did not slam the door but the glass shattered completely such that the window is completely useless. I've seen this happen when a rock was thrown from a lawn mower but never from just shutting a door. If anybody has ANY idea why or how this happened I would love to know!

ALSO, Will I have to see a dealer to get matching tint? PLEASE ADVISE ON THE BEST WAY TO REPLACE THE WINDOW

dont go back to the stealership. a local auto body shop should be able to get a new piece of glass installed for around $100 , also check with your insurance and see if you have any sort of no deductable glass break coverage first. and i think any reputable tint shop should be able to match the tint. Most of the cars out there have a 3M brand tint so its not as if it should be hard to come by what you already have.

I've broken 2 windows while closing the door, a 76 Mustang and an 82 S-10, I wasn't slamming the door either time.

Guess there was a defect in the glass or I have real bad luck ;-)
