Message: None the less, you were speeding and you can't bail yourself out by saying the guy ahead of you was going faster. It's like saying if someone is ahead of you doing 90 on the freeway, it should give you the right to do 85 without getting a ticket first. What sucks is, usually the flashier car/truck will get the ticket, which just may have been the case with you. It could have been a numerous range of other factors too. Police will often choose to pull over the younger guy than the older man/woman. The "flow of traffic" theory is hard to contest a ticket with.
My brother was in training to become a state cop, but he's serving in Iraq now. Those are just some things I remember him telling me awhile back.

Message: to the original poster-
i do agree with what you are saying, but if washington is anything like north carlina, cops are giving tickets to make the state money, not to prevent automobile accidents. im guessing your ticket will cost you about $85-100, when you go to court, they will ask you if you want to go to a class to get the ticket "swept under the rug", but it will cost you more money. but if you go and tell the judge that his trained officer in which he trusts and respects, he's gonna laugh at you no matter what the situation is.

Message: I'm sure the vast majority of police officers are out there risking their lives to make me safe and I never hear about it, or benefit indirectly from them. But a few times when bad things have happened, and I was on the right side of the law and really needed a cop to back me up, they have consistently let me down.
I couldnt have said this better! And its well known that police in our area write bogus tickets simply for the money..not the safety.
Maybe Ill win a badge in my next box of crackerjacks too!

Message: Pay the fine stupid. you were speeding, had you not been, you would not have recieved a ticket. Tell me you know you were speeding but the car infront was going faster? I'll slap you and add another 50.00 fine for ignorance. Try to beat the ticket? go ahead stupid, something called evidence is against you. Hope the officer does'nt appear, dosen't work anymore stupid, it was always an option of the judge, not a divine right.
I know, you and another stupid go rob a bank, only you have a water gun, him with a real one, if you get away great, if you get caught, I'll let you go cause you only had a toy gun, right?
wrong STUPID....See you at 9:00, cash only, i dont accept checks or ignorant excuses...

Message: The last time i went to court to contest a ticket, the judge accepted my bla bla bla, but, he said that if he sees me there within 12 months, he was gonna make me pay every ticket that he had found me not responsible. That one, was like the third one in one year, back in 2000.
Ever since, i bought a Passport 8500, besides have developed the habit of obeing the speed limit(+or-), and get 20+ mpg ave and still have my very noise moments almost every day.
Don`t give up. Go see the judge.
Just make sure that you are impregnated with your case, to better "perform" in front of him.
If it does not work, you just pay what you all ready had to pay .
Get a good radar detector. Mine saves me a bundle.

You're good really. I never would have thought that one up. My genious friend's once told me that though...about 7 years ago.
---
Anyway...like ricardcapecod said invest in a good radar detector...AND get a decent CB radio. I swear those suckers are 10x more effective than radar detectors when you're on the highway. And lastly...develop a habit of keeping a lookout ahead for the usual signs of cops. Car sitting on the side of the road, sirens on top of an oncoming vehicle (hopefully not on as they're pulling a U-turn to nail you), cars in front of you hitting the brakes, etc.
I speed quite often though usually I stay with the flow of traffic...if I'm speeding like an idiot, I do it when there's no other vehicles in sight. As soon as I see a vehicle approaching you can bet your ass I'm back at the speed limit or around 5mph over. I just love being old enough that all I gotta worry about is the damn fines... one year after getting my license at 16, I spent 6 months of that time on suspension for speeding tickets.
