Subject: Brakes: Pads\Shoes... squealing IP: Logged
Message: Last time I serviced my brakes I was told it was the last time the rotors and drums could be machined\turned. Even after the service with new pads and shoes, the rear brakes occasionally squealed. Now the squealing is becoming somewhat louder and more frequent but it is still intermittent.
MY QUESTION:
Under "normal" driving conditions, about how many miles can one expect to get out of a set of pads\shoes before they need replacing? Normal means no racing\hard braking...
SECOND QUESTION: How much can I expect to pay to have someone replace my drums and rotors?

Message: Squealing may be the brand of parts. I use MoPar semi-metallic pads; Raybestos and Bendix are also good for not squealing.
Life is highly variable. I get 125K miles or more out of front pads on my car; some people only get 40K. You should get at least that under moderate use.

Message: Bob,
Do you use the Value line Mopar or the OE Mopar? My OE pads lasted 70k and my VLines have about 38k- I'm expecting about 12,000 before I change them.
Thanks.
