 Subject: Transfer Case mode switch location 1998

My 4 wheel drive light is not working and the bulb is fine. Can anyone tell me where the transfer case mode switch is located on my 1998. I got a part # J-XXXXXXXX (7/8" wrench) from the dealer for my 1998 with the 231 model case. After getting under the truck with the skid plate off I seem to have located a speed sensor (1" wrench) in between the trans and case but can't find the mode switch. Am I looking in the right place or have the wrong part? It does look a lot like the speed sensor.
Any knowledge would be great,
