Subject: How do you stop Battery Lead corrosion IP: Logged
Message: Hey all I just replaced my leads on my dak cause they were streched out and not maintaining good conductivity. I used those soft clamp style ones. Anyhow the old ones appeared to have grease on them to stop corrosion. Should I put grease on the new ones or is there something special?

Message: For awhile, but it melts away and has to be renewed at least every week in summer.

Message: I had a golf car repair service for 21 years > I replaced hundreds of batteries (6 to a cart). Don't laugh but by far the best thing to use on a battery post is karo serup > I used the clear collored one > Just put your cables on as normal being sure everything is clean and poor it on the post > I Used a half inch paint brush to be sure the post , clamp and base of post was completely covered > It forms a fairly hard coating when dryed out > It washes off with hot water very easy > It doesn't get chit on your hands every time you touch the battery and nothing on your cloths should you lean over the battery working on engine > Try it > You well be very pleased > once it's applied it lasts till you replace the battery >

Message: ...and you'll get a very generous puddle melted all over the battery. Butit won't corrode.

Message: Has anyone tried butter? lol I am kidding. The karo surup sounds crazy, I am sure it works but I will probably go for the more conventional spray greese. Thanks for you help.
