Message: 93 CC 4x4 3.9 103K. Intermittent stalling for last 6 months, getting progressively worse. At first it would start right back up, however been taking longer and longer to start backup. While waiting for it to start I noticed there is no check engine light or seat belt warning lamp when ignition switch is turned to on position. All other electrical systems and dash cluster seem to work. To test if it will start again I toggle the ignition switch to the on position and after 5-10 minutes those 2 lamps will light up again - seat belt first then check engine - and she will start. 2 weeks ago found a short in the drivers seat belt wiring so disconnected the electrical connector at base of seat belt fastener. Thought I had it fixed, no stalls for last 2 weeks after stalling ~3x a week average then tonight it stalled once more and took 10 minutes to start. Same routine. Dodge dealer service shop says it might be the fuel pump, what the hell!?! Checking schematic in FSM I could only think to pull the chime in Fuse\Distribution panel as the next step. It is almost like a time delay function or relay after a short which is getting progressively longer and there is a 4-8 second delay in the chime but doubt it is root cause. Anyone have ANY ideas, or even suggestions of who I could talk to that actually understands the electrical circuits and dependences of the Dakotas? New battery, redid splice under fuse box, standard tune up, etc. Thanks for any help!

Message: Hmm, when it takes longer and longer progressively to start it reminds me of when a starter solenoid goes bad. I've changed plenty of those with the same predictable pattern of acting up. It builds up more and more resistance to the current flow before finally working. Eventually it just stops working when the resistance is too high. It would seem like a fuel pump or solenoid in the tank going out on you. I'm just guessing though. Good luck.

Message: Thanks Mark, I wanted to get my fuel gage back so I'm picking up a fuel pump and filter tomorrow after work. Yeah sort of reminds me of a start up capacitor on an electric motor going bad. Couldn't find any cause and effect to seat belt lamp and fuel pump in the FSM but am willing to try anything. At the same time I disconnected the seat belt connection 2 weeks ago I added a 5.2 TB with Cold Air Intake, cleaned sensors and can't believe the difference. Wish I would have done it 12 years ago. Finally replaced the OEM stereo so I made several changes. Thinking if this doesn't work change out the computer but hate to throw parts at it and still trying to figure what the seat belt lamp has to do with the check engine light, etc. At this point almost don't care, would like to be safe on the road again and stop being a road hazard. Thanks again.
