Subject: Parking Brake

last night, when i pulled the lever to release my parking brake, the pedal did not come up and the light didnt turn off, but the brake was not on bec my truck was able to roll on idle and there was no noticable lockage during driving. when i got home last night, i investigated the problem and found out that when i held the release lever up, i was able to pull the pedal up with my hand. Upon trying the brake again, there was no resistence on the pedal when i pushed it down and it still would not come up on its own.

my best guess is that the cable has become disconnected from the actual break, bec it is still connected in the cab. so, are there any extra connections, like pivot points, between the pedal and the brake, or is it one continuous cable, and how should i go about fixing it if the cable is actually broken, not disconnected?
