Message: my 92 dakota 5.2 mpi, auto trans, dies at will. but most times will restart right away, sometimes it takes a whileto restart. replaced fuelpump + filter, and throttle position sensor. error code # 12 is only code the cpu has stored. the truck has good power, and fuel economy.
any and all help will be appreciated.

Message: sounds like you too have bad wiring just behind your fuse box under your hood..there was a recent post about this somewhere. I will see if I can locate it and post it here for you.

Message: it seems that the 92-95 Daks are notorious for a problem of bad wiring right behind or just going into the fuse box under the hood. It will make you crazy replacing things, (as you well know), but it is a simple matter of unwrapping the wiring at this point and resoldering the connections back. I am sure some other people will share their experience with this as it is common. I will keep looking for that note I saw. I am certain this is your problem.

Message: i have a '94 with the 5.2, and it takes a while to start... i checked, and the fuel pressure only comes up to about 15psi at first, then after you crank it, it will rise up to normal... do you think that could be the result of that wiring prob too?

Message: I don't know if a 92 is new enough to have this yet. My dad had a problem with a 97 ram and a 98 Wrangler. I don't think they ever died, but sometimes didn't want to start. Sometimes he wouldn't have to wait at all to try again, and sometimes he'd have to wait a while. His problem was that the dealers install chip key anti-theft devices (to protect the vehicles while on the lot, I guess). Well, they weren't disconnecting these systems, just break the chip off inside. It rattles a little loose and the car wont start. They key goes usually at the bottom of the dash by the steering column. Just another thing for you to check out.
