Subject: Power locks going crazy
IP: Logged

Message:
2003 Dakota Club Cab 4x4 V8; out of nowhere last week my auto door locks go nuts intermittently. Locking and unlocking, sometimes just when I stop, sometimes all the time when driving, sometimes not at all. The local dealer says, "never heard of it, bring it in..." I openned the fuse panel but no listing of which fuse is for the door locks. Also not sure if it is dying battery in my key chain lock sending signal. Anyone hear of this and no easy solution before I get sucked in by the dealer?

Yup, our 2003 durango ( same year) did the same thing. A relay went afu and needed to be repalced, that was it.

Is it still under warranty? I think there is a TSB that requires you to replace the switches.

If you give me your e-mail I'll send the info to you...don't wanna post it on here it's like 4 pages long. They say the cause is water seeping into the door lock cylinders and causing a short in the switch. Hope this helps.
