Subject: tranny wont bolt up IP: Logged
Message: Hi there,
I just replaced the 3.9 in my 96 dak with a 3.9 from a 97 dak, it seemed to drop right in other than some wiring issues.
The problem is that the engine wont snug up closer than ~ 1/2" to the auto tranny and wont allow the flexplate to mount to the converter (both are from the 96, there is nothing between the bell housing and engine that would stop them from mating, that I can see :/
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated ;)

Message: That's what it sounds like to me. The convertor isn't fully in place and is keeping the engine from bolting up. I'm not sure on the newer ones, but on older cars/trucks, if I could put my fingers between the back side of the convertor and the bellhousing, the convertor wasn't "seated" in the pump.
