Message: What things are there to look for on a Gen II CC 4x4?
My GF likes my Dak (02' 4.7 4x) and found a 95' with pretty low miles. 5.2 auto 4x4, I'm not sure which tranny it is, but as far as I can tell its in good shape, engine compartment is spotless. Sounds like there is a very small exhaust leak but it started right up and ran like a champ.
Current owner is a truck driver and doesn't drive it hardly at all, said it hasn't moved for a few weeks which instilled my trust because it started instantly.
If any owners of similar trucks could fill me in, I'd be highly appreciative.

Message: I have a 95 ext cab 4x4 318 auto. 103 k miles on it. Not sure what tranny but I know it has 5 gears. I get 15 to 17 mpg city depending on weather and how i drive it. Between 19 and 20 hwy. So far i have replaced a fuel pump, water pump and radiator. I am very pleased with it. Keep the tranny fluid fresh and i think it will be a good truck for you.

Message: Thanks...
Mileage doens't sound that bad since she'll be on the highway most of the time...hmm.
Thanks for the input!

Message: I have to tell you the gas mileages are after a kn filter swap. My 95 had a closed round air cleaner on top. This only had a 3x5 inch tube that ran to the front passenger side of the truck. I ripped all of that sh*t off and i replace it with an open round air intake that you would find on an old muscle car. 14 inch diameter and 3 inches tall. You have to make a gasket to seal it, but for $50 it has paid for itself. before 13-14 mpg city and 16-27 hwy.

Message: I have a '95 CC 4x4 auto but with the 3.9L. In the last few months, I've had to start replacing the A/C system. It's not bad, original components went 10-11 years and 150k miles (now up to 153k). So far the compressor, the acumulator, the heater core and now the evaporator core needs replaced.
I just replaced the original fuel pump, the new one gets me ~1 mpg more. First fill-up on it got me 18.15 mpg combined city/highway.
I'd take it for a test drive and see if the A/C and 4x4 system works. Check the oil. Over the years I built up alot of sludge, not sure if this "issue" is evident in all older dak or just mine. Flushing it helped restore my mpg.
I have 10" open element w/ k&N filter and run synthetic oil.
Over all, I love the truck. I would definately buy another one.
