I've got a 3 1/2 month old '01 CC 4x4 and today I noticed I've suddenly acquired a strange whine in the box area of the truck. Happens when parked and running or on the road. I've got 2,700 miles on it, 10 off-road on hard pan gravel, the rest of the miles on pavement with no 4x4 abuse. It sounds like a BIG electric generator as if I'm in Hoover dam generating room...anyone else had this problem?
Doesn't seem to be affecting the performance so far but.....I can't help but wonder about the transfer case or the rear end. Has 3.92 gears with 4.7 auto.

I have a slight whine coming from the same area, nothing sounding like im standing next a a generator though. Ive heard it can be the fuel pump. I think a low to soft whine may be normal.

Comedians...must be close to the weekend!!! Seriously..this is a new noise I've not heard before..Erin have you had yours checked at the dealer? I'm hoping not the fuel pump, I've already had the oil send unit replaced at 900 miles and at this rate I'm thinking I got a lemon! I'm getting the transfer case TSB work done next week so I'll have them check the noise out. To be more specific it sounds like your standing around an electric turbine.

I have had the same noise since day one and I assume it's my fuel pump. I can just barely hear it in the cab with the windows up and no radio on, but it is very noticable when standing at the rear of the truck. Almost 24,000 miles and no problems with it. If the fuel pump dies I hope it dies within the next 51,000 miles since my extended warranty ends at 75,000 miles.
