Subject: Odd A/C Question IP: Logged
Message: Well I know this sounds odd, but here goes...
I turn on the A/C in my 99 5.2 SLT just after starting the truck from a cold start. The idle increases for the A/C to come on, but the A/C clutch doesnt engage. If I put my food on the gas and raise the idle a little with the A/C selection on, the clutch will catch and then run normally.
Any ideas as to what may be going on here? I have checked the R-134a levels and they are fine. I was thinking at one time it may be the A/C pressure sensor on the line, but wasnt sure. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Message: it may have something to do with engine temp. my '00 does that. if the a/c is on for a cold start it takes about 20-30 seconds for the comp clutch to engage. if the engines warm, no delay.
my rad fan does the same thing. the fsm says the fan comes on with either 220 engine temp or a/c demand and engine temp of 110.
