I have heard alot of people say that their Daks shut down around 98 mph. Mine stays until 115, but when it gets above 110 it shudders like heck and I get out of it. Any reasons for the shudder?
By the way, I have a '00 Sport 4.7 reg cab 5 spd.

The reason for the shudder is all the wind resistance. Our Daks aren't very aerodynamic. Also, when you hit your speed limiter it's pretty violent, I noticed anyways.

mine goes to 115 easy and stay's smooth...so smooth in fact that i was driving with one hand. if the limiter was gone it would easely go faster with no fuss. check your wheel balance.

I am with Eric. I hit 117 MPH in 4th gear when I was shut down but it was smooth riding with no shudder. If you were driving that fast on a windy or brezzy day the turbulance could be buffeting truck also.

I hit 196Km/Hr before my truck cut on the rev limiter in 3rd gear. The truck was riding pretty smooth. My truck is an automatic with 3.55 gears. For you guys down south thats about 121MPH.

Oh, and speaking of dumb sob, have you ever heard of a racetrack. I happen to have access to an asphault oval. So next time how about keeping your mouth shut so your ignorance won't show.

Everyone else, thanks for your input!

Are you the same Carey that has the other post about the bad luck truck with tranny trouble? If so I wouldn't push my luck doing 100+ MPH with a possesed truck from hell (friday the 13th). Anyway with those two accedentts I'm sure your frame is so f*cked up that the alignment is out or on the outer tolerences of factory specs. I wouldn't push it, I have had bad history with cars handling adly after a accident, and in your case with two??? I wouldn't push the truck

SELL IT!!!

Try this by the way, take a piece of steel (flatbar) and bend it then try to straighten it. Now bend it again....a little in the first bend and bend it about 5 inches from the first. Now try to straighten that and get the flatbar perfect. (you don't really have to do it, just think about it) that is your truck's frame after 2 bad wrecks, impossible to get straight!!!!

Yes, I'm the one! The shudder I started this message about has been there since the truck was new though. The frame surprisingly was not hurt in either two wrecks. The damage was frontal sheet metal and cap. I know I made it sound bad, but the wrecks were not all that bad. It's just that the way they design the new cars with crimple zones kept the damage from reaching the frame.
O.K. i know I sound like I'm in denial and to be honest I don't fully believe that the frame wasn't hurt. Just taking the word of the reputable body man that fixed it. Since the wrecks, I am extra cautious. I don't let my wife drive it at all as opposed to before I only wouldn't let her drive it in the rain.
