Subject: "CHECK GUAGES" Light IP: Logged
Message: The "Check Guages" light on my '98 w/5.9L comes on under quick heavy braking and the oil pressure guage drops momentarily. I've already had the intake manifold gasket replaced once. Could this be the problem again?

Message: Doubt it, probablly the sudden decceleration takes all of the oil from the rear of the pan and pushes it to the front uncovering the pickup, giving you a momentary oil pressure loss. I have a 4x4 and it wil do it on steep downhills.

Message: Check for a low oil level. When you brake the oil sloshes to the front of the pan and the pickup tube is in the rear of the pan. How many miles do you have on it? The drainback holes in the heads and lifter might be pluged with sludge and not letting all the oil return back to the pan.....
