Subject: Weld or Not to Weld??? IP: Logged
Message: I am changing out my stock muffler with a flowmaster muffler and i was wondering if I should weld the new muffler to the stock exhaust pipe or just use those clamps instead. If I went with the clamps would that make any unwanted noise or and leaks?

Message: I'm always amazed when people use clamps to seal their exhaust system. Personally I want all connections to have perfectly good seals. I honestly don't feel you can get that and maintain that seal using clamps alone. Do you want to go chasing down every little leak that shows up? I wouldn't. I could be wrong, just my opinion.

Message: Before you clamp it seal the pipes with some red permatex RTV. Works slicker than snot on a doorknob.
