Subject: 4WD Service Light IP: Logged
Message: Has anybody had there 4WD service light come on with only having a 2WD Dakota?

Message: Same thing happened to me last fall on my 2001 at 1700 miles on the OD. Remember that some posting on edmunds on point. But basically just a computer bug. 5 minute fix at the dealer. Has not reaccured.

Message: I took it to the dealer today. They said it was a spike in the electronics and needed some part that was related to the A/C. A/C is working just fine. They ordered the part will fix it next week.

Message: There is a TSB that instructs the dealer to replace the AC control. The AC control in your truck is sending some incorrect messages via the vehicles data bus. The Instrument Cluster thinks it should turn on the 4X4 lamp. The new AC control will keep the 4X4 lamp off and you should not notice any problem with the AC.
