Subject: R/T 's Heavy steering, why? IP: Logged
Message: Just purchased a 1999 Dakota R/T. I noticed right off the bat the steering has that heavy manual feel. I am guessing this is for performance? How is this acomplished on the R/T? Thanx

Message: its definitely related to the tread, or foot print of the tire... the larger the tire, the stiffer it feels

Message: I don't buy the tire theory. I have driven many a truck / cars with wide tires and the steering isn't like my R/T. What makes the rack different? Thanx

Message: it's the wheel/tire combo
17x9 wheels with a 255 tire. I've driven R/T's and non R/T's with R/T wheels and it's got the same feeling.
