Subject: Ever wanna smack your Dak With A hammer? IP: Logged
Message: I am attempting to take of my control arms to change my upper control arm bushings... the passenger side went fairly smooth, just had to destroy the upper balljoint boot to get it out. I go to the driver side, first start to remove the lower shock bolt, the bastard snaps off flush with the control arm, ok, I start drilling, finally get a hole through the bolt, go to a larger bit, it breaks of in the bolt,
Long story short, get bit out, break off easy out. now in the process of removing lower control arm and getting a different one at junk yard. What does this all have to do with the dak? If the front end wasn't so crappy, I wouldn't be writing this. This Dak is truly a love hate relationship.

Message: Yeah, but i would kinda miss it..
..on another note..i did take a hammer to my Durango...a big 5lb. mallet to the front fender and bumper. It was fun..and stress relieving. Ok,ok, so i only did it to pound the fender back into shape after someone hit me, and i could get the headlight back in..but still.

Message: The only time I've ever wanted to take a hammer to my Dak was last spring when I was putting on my electric fan....which of course required the removal of the stock clutch, belt driven fan :(
My friend and I didn't have the special tool to hold the water pump pulley while turning the fan off. We tried just about every combination of wrenches, blocks, pipes, etc to try and turn the fan without turning the water pump pulley. After we FINALLY got it off, it appeared as if someone had put locktite on the threads??? I couldn't believe my eyes. But I guess after 120,000 miles of having the engine crank the fan on tighter and tigher it makes sense that it was stuck like a sumofabiatch.

Message: Wow! I'm new to this site but I love it. Glad to know I'm not the only one who gets frustrated while working on my dak. I put on a 3" body lift and accidentally let the steering wheel rotate 360. I didn't think much of it until I drove it. This little mishap caused the clock spring to break, which, in turn, killed my cruise control and caused my airbag light to come on. Costly mistake. Still haven't hit it with a hammer…. yet.

Message: it can be very theraputic. I regularly do upgrades and mods, and eventually it comes down to my favorite tool, my 5 lb whackin hammer! it's a great stress reliever, and doesn't do much harm as long as its not to the body panels!
