I am not aware of any specific brand. Keeping them properly inflated helps. Supposedly nitron filled tires are better on gas, but that is a subject of some debate.
I would assume the smallest size tire you can fit would be better than the largest.

try www.tirerack.com they may be able to help you out. i personally would think the skinniest and tallest you could fit would give best mileage. like a 165/85/16. you know kinda like a bicycle tire. not too good for handling thoughy.

Dan M the use of nitrogen in tires benefits you buy allowing the Cold tire pressure to be higher then what your tire says. NASCAR teams used it for some time prior to being ruled illegal. Teams could set pressures higher and not have such a difference in the handling during the pit-to-pit run. If you use that info to understand why you or I would use nitrogen, if you only drive a short distance the tires, being filled with air, my not get hot enough to gain allot of pressure giving the best rolling ability of the tire. Nitrogen would give the best a tire could offer. Though the expense of the nitrogen would offset any savings you would get from its use.

My sources say something different - nitrogen is still used in NASCAR; and its because by eliminating the moisture found in compressed air, tire pressure stays more uniform. NASCAR isn't looking for high tire pressures, they are looking for consistency as they change pressure to tune the suspension, often in 1/2 pound increments. Anyone else care to weigh in on which of us might be correct ?
As to the original post, some tires will have lower rolling resistance than others. I've also heard these types of tires are also related to the static electricity that zaps you as you get out of cars that have them.

Tires that have tread patterns more like passenger car tires have a larger effective contact patch. These will give you longer tread life and better dry traction.
Keeping any tire properly inflated will reduce the tire's rolling resistance, and improve gas mileage slightly.
I have an auto trans with 3.55 rear, and have found I get 3-5 more mpg if I leave overdrive off below 60mph. I don't know if the same applies to the 3.92 rear.
