Message: yesterday i took my Dakota to the beach. loaded the back with probably 800lbs of firewood and coolers (beer) and drove about 75 miles 1 way in a strong headwind. the engine had no problems on power and easily pulled in overdrive even up hills. the truck handles the wieght of the wood as if it wasnt there. once at the beach we rode some trails and the dakota did great, playing in 2wd where others were in 4. i easily drug a stuck ford ranger through soft sand and was never close to bieng stuck. when we did start getting to some tougher areas the 4wd worked flawlessly and the truck easily climbed dunes and anything else i pointed it at. then at night a strong storm came in and destroyed the tent, i would up spending the night in the truck and was actually quite comftorable. the point of this was just to let others know that some people have reliable dakotas that work well, not all of us love to whine and complain. my dakota is now at just about 12k trouble free miles, i expect to see 100 with little or now problems

Message: Just to add my 2 cents, my '01 Sport reg cab 4X2 with the 4.7L, 5 spd and 3.92 LS has been trouble free for all of it's 45,000 miles. Regular routine maintenance and no abusive driving. I've put a set of front brakes pads on it so far, for unscheduled maintenance. Still has the original ball joints, surprisingly. Great truck, no plans on trading it in for something else. Mods include a Leer top, Rhino Linings bed liner, Quickor rear sway bar, K&N FIPK and a Magnaflow cat back exhaust. That's all folks! Enjoy your Dakota, I sure do.

Message: I have 03 quad with 4.7 5speed very happy at 25,000 miles. Lots I want to do, first will be a tonneau cover, I find the wind really catchs the truck. plus safe place for stuff. Was thinking
a Gaylords lid because of the custom fit
where it meets the cab. My dakota is grafite
and I tinted the the front windows and it looks
really sharp.
