Subject: replacing fuel sending unit IP: Logged
Message: So my gas guage has not been working since like july of 04. I finally got around to trying to fix it. I took the truck bed off, pulled out the pump and replaced the sending unit. Before bolting the bed on, I turned on the ingition and be hold! My fuel guage read full! Whoo hoo! Yeah, I know, NEVER do this with a full tank!!! AFter driving about 50 miles, my fuel guage still reads full. I should have used 2-3 gallons of gas so far. My guage still reads full?? It should be 1/8 less than when I started. But at least my low fuel light has gone off, man that was annoying!!
So, having said that. Anyone know of any other reason the fuel guage would not work? Bad electrical connector?? from the pump?? Bad wiring inside the pump??
Having done it once, I NEVER want to have to do that again! Oh, the brain child that I am decided to take pictures after replacing the sending unit - but before putting the bed back on.. I'll post a quick how-to in the near future with some limited pictures.

Message: It takes more than 50 miles for my fuel gauge to move.
Give it some more time/miles.

Message: I drove 100+ miles, fuel guage never registered properly. I did fill up yesterday, so far it has been working properly. I have not gone below the reading when i first tried, I think it will work fine now though.
Here is the how-to, no pictures yet, that will come in the next few days.

Message: Maybe I lied. The fuel guage stopped after showing me having used 1/8 of a tank. It would be nice if I never used more than 1/8 of a tank of gas! Any ideas on what the issue might be? Maybe the float is hung?
