Message: OK, this is just and idea to play with, but do ya'll think you could go buy a viper enginer and plug it into a dakota frame? with or without modding. That would be one bad ass dak.

Message: Nope is so far wrong that that he is just a pathetic little turd Of course you could. the engine is only two cyliders longer AND with moding was one of your conditions so yeah you could, you just might have to mount the radiator in the bed!

Message: The Gen1 was designed with a V6 in mind. "No room for a V8." In 1989, Carroll Shelby put 318's in 1500 of them with nothing more than a crossmember and electric fans. A V10 would be no more difficult in a Gen2 and up. I dare say, even a Gen1. Hell, they put 440's in Gen1's with no problem and that's a bigass engine. The hardest part would be actually getting the Viper engine. $$$

Message: Is it possible? Yes. Rad Rides by Troy " Troy Trepena?" has built one. Dunno who for, but it's pretty cool. Last I read he had to refab the firewall 'cause of the dak driveline being off center slightly. And to accomidate the extra four inches of the V 10. Same for custom tranny crossmember. boB asked "is it worth it?" I don't know. Is the answer to "Hey it got a hemi in it?" with "No it's got 150 more horses, and two extra cylinders" worth it? But traction would be an issue I think!

Message: So lets see, $20,000 for the engine from the factory, $15,000 for the truck and lets say $5,000? for installment. Thats $40,000 for a truck that could possibly be faster than an SRT-10, and you pay $50,000 for the SRT-10. OK, thats alot of money, but it would be the most badass street legal Dak ever made, well to me anyways. Hmmm, *ponders*

Message: you can get the engine new for about $12000 if you know where to look. if you had a CC or QC i personally would try to do the same thing banks performance did and drop in a cummins 5.9. that wouldn't have the "viper powered" edge or brag to it, but it would beat it. makes me drool to think about either one in my dak, too bad it'll never happen for me. good luck with it.

Message: lol,my point exactly. if you could find a wrecked ram HD that had one you could get it much cheaper than the v10. not sure what tranny you would use, but it would be a mean dakota. check out the banks sidewinder on their website. and with the diesal you would get better mileage (obviously more power) and any mods you do would net you more than doing the same to the viper engine. of course it would be more work, but think of the finished product. anyway, check it out here:
