I am going to do a cooling system flush on my 97 dakota sport. I went to find a place where I could drain the coolant from, but there really is no place! The lower radiator hose and the overflow tank hose are block by the plastic skid guard or something! Any suggestions?

On my 95, I have to remove a thin metal plate. This covers access to the lower radiator hose and drain on the radiator. It is held on by 5 bolts. I'm guessing you have to do something similar.

Looking down from the top of the radiator, on the very lower right corner there should be a drain valve. There is a fitting on the bottom of it where you can attach a hose (3/8" I think), and direct the coolant wherever you want it to go. Don't be afraid to crank on the valve a little, I had to use a pliers to crack it open.

is it made of plastic? I found one and turned it 1/4 turn easy, but nothing came out. Do I have to turn it further?

Yeah its plastic. It will stop about half way, but you need to turn it more. It will start to rotate out (towards the back of the truck) when you continue to turn it. It should screw out about half an inch then it will stop and coolant should be flowing out at a pretty good pace.
