Message: EdelBrock IAS performance shocks... Oh please god buy these shocks.. Ive ran many shocks on my 99 4x4 dak club cab and nothing touches the IdelBrocks... Truck doesnt lean of hella fast turns ( never had a 4x4 never lean like this).. Nose doesnt dip during hard braking.. and offroad performance is great.

Message: I have had BILSTEIN, KYB, TOKIKO,etc. They are way better than O.E, perhaps, a little too harsh on bed tar. For the last 2 years, i`m using EDELBROCK, and they are wonderfully firm on corners and bracking but they get nice and soft when the road gets ondulated. It is the way to go.

Message: thanks, now does it matter that I have a 3" body lift when ordering the shocks?
Also, anyone here change their own shocks? How much of a hassle is it (or not)?

Message: Nothing against the earlier posts....but Monroe Reflex also have had a good showing on previously asked questions.
I've got them on my 2001 QC 4x4 and they flatten out corners and braking and off-road bumps just fine thanks.
Just wanted to give you a 2nd choice.

Message: no smack the shocks will be the same size as you needed before. the body lift has no effect on the shicks fitting because you didnt raise the frame any, and thats what the shocks mount to

Message: Monroe Reflex - I have these on my 4x4 QC and they definitly handle better and got rid of my wheel hop. The downside is that they are stiffer and don't ride as smooth as OE.

Message: Ok the coilover shocks on the rear of my Dakota are nothing more than a Gabriel Gas Shock with a Universal Coil over kit. They told me they do not actually make a coilover shocks for my application. Thats why they used a universal coil over kit. It has two spring mounts that attach to the shock with the coil spring inserted between the mounts and over the shock.
I hope this helps.

Message: The shocks for any truck lifted or lowered, depending on how much, most receive special attention. If you lift the truck and don`t replace the shocks with a longer strock ones, it will work from the begining all ready close to the maximum expanssion, and the opposite is true for lowered ones,or, very close to the maximum compression. In both cases, it is horrible to handling and safety, if that matters. Pay attention to details. This is what makes the difference.
