Subject: Room for Amps in CC IP: Logged
Message: Hey guys. I have seen more than one post concerning the problem of not having enough room to mount an amp in the CC Dakota. I have a 2001 CC and just installed a MTX 6500D amp under the drivers seat, and a Fosgate Power 400.4 under the passenger seat. It took some time and carefull planning, but they are installed and the seats still have thier full travel without hitting the amps. About 1.5" of the amps stick out if you pull the seats all the way forward, but I don't see myself ever putting people in the back and pulling my seats that far up. There is a big area under the center of the 40/60 seat to mount the distribution block, and coming up the middle of the truck with 0 gauge power wire wasn't too difficult. All in all, I think there is plenty of room to mount amps in the truck provided you spend the money to get high power amps that come in small packages. The MTX 6500D will be used to push a MTX thunderform, and the Fosgate 400.4 will be used for A/D/S/ front and rear speakers. The head unit is a Alpine CDA-D855. I will have pictures of the entire install shortly and will send them to anybody interested.
Personally, I think key to installing systems in these types of vehicles is patients.
Thanks,
Stan
