Subject: fuel problem?
IP: Logged

Message:
My 99 dakota rt just acted as if it ran out of fuel. I was cruising along about 40mph,and the motor just stalled, smelled a strange smell briefly. It tries to turn over, and almost gets there, but doesnt. Banging out the gas tank seems to get it a little closer to starting, but still doesnt start. I'm thinking fuel pump/filter...Any opinions on what the problem is,and if there is a better aftermarket replacement?? The truck has about 80000 miles. Thanks,Todd

I am starting to have a similar problem at this point. 98',5.2L,126K

I have to turn it, stop, and turn it again and it turns over fine. Haven't done a whole lot of the work on it myself but I thought a Fuel Filter was just clogging. Upon further investigation YOU HAVE TO BUY THE WHOLE DANG PUMP b/c it doesn't have one seperate from it.

Before I start on a weekend project for this anybody else been having the problem and a little more simple fix to resolve this?
