Cold Air Intake by LIVEONSPEED for 11.95 + 20.95 shipping total = $32.90...Seems like a good deal?
I know I could make my own out of a K&N and some ABS but not at that price and it is metal??
Does any have this and puchased from EBAY, is the real deal or is it just a short version and will take in hot air??
Please advise before I make this purchase...
Thanks,
Greg

Message: I've never purchased nor seen one of these first hand.
the filter is labeled as "less restrictive than stock". Also, it mentions that some units will differ from the picture, gives no further details about the differences.
personally, i went with the edelbrock 1208 and k&n filter. About $60, looks nice and works well on my '95 3.9L.

...and if you use the cheap paper filter with it, it's like $25.

Message: The filter that came with the edelbrock is ok, nothing special. I think they are around $11 for new ones.
I thought cold air intake was taking air in from outside the engine compartment.

Message: I picked up the edelbrock air cleaner from advance. It's part # 1208 and is the 10" round. Pepboys and autozone also carry them.
I also got the K&N filter from advance too. It's part # E-1065. GB2000 has the same edelbrock but he managed to squeeze in the E-1070 filter from K&N. The E-1070 is a 10" x 2" filter while the E-1065 is 9.625" x 2.813". His truck is a later model than mine, we both needed to replace the stock bolt, his is an S shape while mine is straight. I got a new bolt from lowes for around $0.35.
Here is how it looks:

Message: Yup...here's the site with all the info about it. http://www.dakota-truck.net/UPGRADES/FABM/fabmdml.html
...and I'll recommend just going with the E-1065 (check to make sure you have proper clearance, but you should be fine) like Dan did. The 1070 is a very tight fit.

Message: I've only had this set up and stock (which was cold air). For the 95, stock was a small opening (guessing 2 1/2" x 3" without measuring) in the grill with a tube that fed into a closed round container. This provides MUCH better throttle response for me over stock. I could have went with the K&N replacement filter for the stock setup and kept the stock air system, but this one is just better looking.

Message: I would guess they both are about equal... the round air cleaner's flow more air, but it's warmer. The CAI's flow less but it's cooler.
That's just what I'm thinking...never dyno'd my truck with either so I have no clue.
