Subject: superchip tuner update? IP: Logged
Message: just got my superchip from local dealer today.
first thing i did was run diagnostics to check for codes and got none.
then i proceded to run performance tune-up, all went well untill it finished copying my stock settings. after it finished copying it beeped and said:
Tuner Requires an Update
Call SuperChips
Use code E-6D
Record this file 56040233AD
There customer service has bankers hours so I have to wait untill Monday.
Has this happened to anyone? I checked the model # and its correct, #3715 for 2001 dakota 3.9 auto. Why would it need an update?

Message: It's VERY common...I guess there are TONS of different setups used by our PCMs and the tuners don't have em all in them. I heard it usually takes a week or two before you get it back.

Message: The one I bought for my own truck is there right now with that problem. It's common with a new application.

Message: i took it back to the dealer today. they will have an answer for me monday. superchips tech support is closed saturdays.
i chose superchip over jet stage 1 because it can check diagnostic codes, switch from stock to 87 to 93 octain, and customize other settings i have more to learn about.

Message: You'll need to send it back to SC for an update. Pack it up, along with the sales receipt, and the shipping cost receipt just prior to sending it away. SC will pay for up to $25 of shipping.
It will take a good week, probably closer to 2 weeks to get it back. When you do get it back, hope you don't get a "Tuner requires emulation tests error", cuz then it would have to go back again.

Message: I wouldn't even compare the SC tuner to the Jet chip! The part # for the jet chip is the same for the 4.7 as it is for the 5.2 and 5.9 engines. What does that tell you! I can understand the 5.2 & 5.9 sharing the same settings, but the 4.7 is completely different than the 5.2 & 5.9. I had one on my '00 QC back in '00 and it didn't do one bit of difference. In fact, if anything it made it run a little rough. You can get the same advantage by getting one of those IAT adjusters(or adding the resister)and optimizing you TPS.
Now the SC tuner is tailered for the specific engine that it is programing. I like what I'm hearing about it and may get one my self. Just send your's in to get updated and be happy you didn't waste your money on the Jet chip.

Message: took 3 weeks but i got it back and i have to say i am happy son far. i am running the performance program and the power boost is quite noticable, not tire smoking but it took the sluggishness away plus a little ball$. also shifts much smoother. it also can check diagnostic codes. i haven't refilled my gas tank yet but when i do will post the mpg results. my right foot probably canceled out any gains in fuel economy. overall good bang for the $$$
