Subject: '98 3.9 T-Stat Hose Clamp IP: Logged
Message: I installed a 180 deg. T-stat in my '98 3.9 - no
biggie. now that I have put it back together, the
dang hose weeps - that cheezy OE spring clip
hose clamp isn't cuttin' it. I want to use a worm
gear hose clamp, but the standard ones have
the screw head oriented the wrong way.
I am looking for a S/S worm gear hose clamp
that has the screw head 90 degrees rotated.
In other words, so the screw points down into
the valley, the same direction as the hose. I
have tried Summit, but they draw a blank.
Any ideas?

Message: The O.E. hose clamps are designed so that there is not excessive torque applied to the nipple on the radiator, and if the 98 is like my 99 it is plastic,to prevent it from cracking. You might check to see that the OE spring clamp is in the same groves it was in when it was removed,as for the worm gear type I can't say I have ever seen any made that way.LOL
