In some states different color lights are reserved for different things.
In NY
Red lights are Government emergency vehicles
Blue lights are Volunteer Firefighters
Green lights are Volunteer EMT/Paramedics.
Yellow are service vehicles.
In NY over the last few weeks their has been several incidents of FAKE cops stopping motorist. A bank manager driving home from work was shot and killed by a "Blue Light Bandit"
How would you like your wife/girlfriend/mother being stopped by a fake cop using hidden emergency lighting in a "undercover" type car then assaulted.At night who can tell real from fake?

The issue here is legality. If you have read and understood any of the links provided in earlier posts on this thread, you should be able to get a rough determination of the legality of those blue lights. The final decision will be local regulations' interpretation and implementation of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.

We have safety laws for a reason. Your blue lights are a gross violation and just because the cops are too lazy or too stupid to write you up doesn't change anything. All drivers have a social contract with their fellow drivers. One of them is following the safety laws that exist for a reason.
You come across as being about 16 years old. One day you will grow up and maybe some little turd will just say fukk it to safety regs and do what they think looks "sweet", though "sweet" is a sensory perception limited to the tongue, and maybe they'll kill your daughter or your sister.
I know what I would do in that case. I would sue you off the planet and then when you were broke I would put a hole between your goofy eyes.

clears are legal in all states with amber bulbs. take notice of some cars. there are ones from the factory with clear lenses and amber bulbs. The requirement for all vehicles is to have an amber reflector on the side. this is nationwide fed law. I took some flat amber reflectors and using tie-wraps installed them in the gap between the fender and bumper. I have my clears and reflectors.

We should care because light and reflector colors are set as standards in order to enable greater clarity of communication between drivers. Having different color turn signals increases the time it'll take for another driver to recognize your intentions, because they'll have to interpret what that blue blinking light means instead of just knowing "the amber blinking light means he's turning." Having a different color light slows down the communication which is the entire reason we have turn signals to begin with!

I would have to agree with iskibible in a sense...and with some others in this post I'm sure.
I dunno bout ya'll, but if the damn light in the general vicinity of the turn signal is blinking, whether it be white, green, hot pink, blue, etc, I know it's a turn signal. I saw a guy with neon green running lights (I think) and neon green turn signals (clear corner lenses with green bulbs) on his black S-10. Honestly I thought they looked pretty sharp.
The blinking is how I can tell what light is the turn signal...not the color. Which is prolly why turn signals that don't blink or turn signals that blink REALLY fast drive me nuts.
